Is America finally becoming more progressive towards marijuana? Back in the 1970's, Richard Nixon began the "War on Drug", which has continued through each administration. However, the American population may be ready to end an unrealistic winnable war. In the last decade, 17 states have made the legalization of medical marijuana legal and in the last election two states have taken a bigger leap in making the recreational use of marijuana ok with some regulations of course. As states start to challenge federal law, I think it's time for the federal government to end it's failed policies and accept the use of recreational marijuana much like alcohol.
I thought it was a good hook. I liked how you brought history into it and it grabbed my attention. I got a little confused at the statement an "unrealistic winnable war," I think if you clarified it a little better it would be easier to follow. Otherwise, I thought it was very catchy and effective.
ReplyDeleteI think you should roll with it. I'm on the other side of the arguement, but I still was hooked. Reading this helped me with mine also. So nice job and thanks. I too was a little confused about "unrealistic winnable war". Maybe try something like unwinnable war or something.
ReplyDeleteI really liked your introduction! It was very easy to understand and makes the reader want to continue reading. The only thing I noticed that I thought you might need to change would be 'ok' to 'okay' towards the end of your paragraph when talking about the recreational use of marijuana. Other than that, very good.
